Lake Sherwood Church supports our denominational (OPC) Foreign Missions, Home Missions, and Christian Education Committees. Through these committees we send God’s servants around the world and throughout the USA . The Christian Ed committee publishes study and discipleship materials for our ministries and also collaborates with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) to produce Great Commission Publications. Besides a percentage of our weekly tithes and offerings going to these ministries, at Thanksgiving we take a special “Thank Offering” to further encourage them. Lake Sherwood also supports mission works in Fort Lauderdale, FL; Naples, FL; Birmingham, AL; and Collierville, TN, all of which our Senior Pastor helps oversee. We also helped establish a thriving daughter church in Oviedo .
In recent years, our congregation has sent its own summer teams to aid mission causes in Belize, Jamaica, Haiti, St. Louis, MO, and Naples, FL. We have also sent a group of men for construction projects to Uganda and Haiti. In addition, our church has sent relief teams to Long Island after Hurricane Sandy and to Japan following the tsunami. Our other missions includes supporting individual missionaries to China.
